Twelve Angry Men
As previously discussed, in all three books there's a group of people which is stuck in a place together. But in the books the groups react differently to eachother, sometimes in a positive way and sometimes in a negative way.
In Twelve Angry Men the people in the courtroom probably thought they would not be in the room for a very long time , since at first glance the case did not seem to require much debate about whether the accused person was guilty or not. However due to one different opinion they are forced to be in the room for a much longer time. During this time they have to consult with each other a lot which brings out their personalities and opinions. Not everyone gets along with each other, causing irritations because of the difference in opinion. This eventually gets very out of hand creating true hatred in the group. Throughout the book it turns out that most of the people struggle with themselves and get angry for that reason. |
Lord Of The Flies
In Lord of the Flies there is conflict from the beginning. Neither of the boys know each other and different opinions are expressed from the moment they first speak to each other. Because of this it becomes clear that not everyone gets along on the island. Two groups immediately emerge with both having a leader. These two groups think too differently to interact with each other in peace. Throughout the book this only gets worse and eventually this leads to murder. |
Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption
The story of Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption is quite different than the previous two books. In the beginning of the story the man that the story is about was heavily molested by the people he was forced to be with. However, during the book this completely changes. The people he is locked up with begin to love him and vice versa, creating friendships for life. The story even tells how people in the prison have become so attached to the people around them that the other bad conditions no longer matter to them. Because of this, these people find it very difficult to leave the prison when they are allowed to and move on in real life.
